I'm pretty sure that most of our trips to the doctor have had a timeline that went like this. This is an example from just this week with Ty-
Day 1 (mon): What's that I hear? Ty has a cough. I decide that observation begins, and I will keep an ear on it. He seems fine so far.
Day 2 (tues): Cough getting louder and more persistent- hmmm. Plus, I detect a tad bit of a runny nose. No fever, he plays and acts fine. Not worried yet, but observation still going.
Day 3 (wed): Still coughing, nose running more and more. I think it's definitely getting worse, so we will wait it out another day to see what happens. He seems to be playing normally still.
Day 4 (thurs): Cough still there, nose running, and what's this?? A slight fever. Not really high, but it's there. Plus I think I just saw an ear tugging out of the corner of my eye. Alright, well since he is still acting like his normal self, I will hold of ONE more day.... And I am praying that he does not pass this lovely virus along to his sister.
Thurs night- Ty is up all night. Every time he breathes it sounds like I am holding a purring cat! That can't be good... He is crying, irritable, and miserable. I decide that I will call doctor's office in the morning- he is really sick now. He cries for 2 hours before going back to sleep.
Day 5 (fri)- I call doctor and explain symptoms; they agree his is sick enough to need to come in. Oh, and his eyes started gooping- yuck! I hate goopy eyes, it's gross. And he is pulling at his ears bad. He seems worn out and just wants to be held all morning.
Afternoon- We are on our way to the doctor. Half way there, Ty starts perking up. NO I think, keep acting miserable and lethargic! We get to the doctor's office, and it's obvious all Ty can think about is how cool the giant fish tank is, as he is running around non stop. Great, I think. He's probably fine now.
We get to room, doctor comes in. What does Ty do? Yells "Hi, hola!!" to the doctor in his best big boy voice. Doctor laughs and asks me why we're really here. I sense that he thinks I'm crazy. :) I explain symptoms, so doctor decides to check him out. But first, Ty decides to jump up and down on the table, all while telling the doctor what a frog says- "RIBBIT!", laughing hysterically. I promise, he's SICK!
Doctor checks out Ty, nothing is wrong. He's fine, probably just a virus, have a nice weekend. I'm mad that I just wasted $20 for a play date with our doctor and an aquarium visit.
Oh well, we'll probably be doing this whole routine again in a month or two. And I only wish that I had called the doctor on monday, because then Ty would have been cured instantly. Apparently that's what happens when I take my kids to the doctor. haha
