A Thanksgiving Birthday

There can't be a much better way to spend your birthday than with tons of family and lots of food! This year, Matt's birthday fell on Thanksgiving, so that is exactly what he got. (He was actually born on Thanksgiving, how cool is that?!?)
Anyway, in honor of his birthday, his mom and Lyndsay made him an awesome Indian cake. Very creative! We had a great Thanksgiving dinner, then had a mini birthday celebration for my favorite man.

Nathan and Jonathan, waiting patiently for the cake

Jared, Madison, Jonathan and Jordyn watching the candles! They put a "2" and then 8 single ones for his cake. But don't worry Matt, I wont' tell everyone how old you are :)

Make A Wish!

And no post is complete without a picture of my little guy.

We have so much to be grateful for this year. Even though it would be easy to look at our life and feel like things are just not going in any way the way we would want them too right now, we are happier than we have ever been and have much to be thankful for. A little late for Thanksgiving, but I figure it's never late to show gratitude. So here is my list of stuff I am loving right now-

1. Our Health. Even if nothing else in life is certain right now, it is sooo great knowing that we are healthy.

2. My Visiting Teachers! Janalee and Tamsin are the first visiting teachers I have ever had that have actually come to my house and cared about me. They will never know how grateful I am for this!

3. Our Friends. We have wonderful friends, people I can call and count on no matter what. For them, I am truly grateful.

4. Our Families. Without them, we would surely fail these tests. Our parents especially have given us support, wisdom, advice, and help that is beyond gratitude in words. We love you guys so much and are so thankful for everything.

5. That Jordyn is in Preschool! I know it seems silly, but somehow, someway, long before Matt lost his job, it worked out that Jordyn got into a free preschool program. What a blessing! It has enriched her life, and ours, and I am so happy this worked out.

6. Our Home. We have a home. We have a place of solitude and retreat. In our crazy life, this is magical. Matt and I revel in the quiet retreat of our home everyday.

7. And of course, Matt and my children. Matt is my rock, my best friend. Through anything we go through, we lean on each other and make it work. And Jordyn and Tyler are what make life fun and happy. They smile when I can't, they laugh when it's hard, and they love no matter what. To these three, I love you more than anything :)

Hurray! I luff the cake. And I love birthdays that fall on Thanksgiving - we've got two at our house, now, that will eventually do that! I'll have to remember the indian cake idea.

Great post!
