Stitches, Again

Well, it happened already. I'm pretty sure the InstaCare needs to just reserve our own room, since we are there so often! I wish I was kidding.... :)

Jacob had a little run in with my night stand about 2 weeks ago and had to be taken in for some stitches. That night was going really smoothly, and he was all ready for bed. Then, Matt's mom was on the phone, and Matt put her on speaker. He was SO excited to talk on the phone (it's one of his favorite things) he lunged off the bed, and hit the night stand. I grabbed him and pulled him out so his crying wouldn't be loud on the phone, when I realized he was bleeding everywhere! There was no doubt about it, he needed stitches. So I loaded him up in the car and off we went.

Luckily, it wasn't a very busy night and we didn't have to wait very long. Thank goodness! The poor boy was tired and hungry on top of everything else.

He didn't seem to mind having to wait around a little.

They put the numbing cream on him and he wasn't a fan of that. He did great about not touching the cotton ball, but he did cry to let us know. He kept sayind "Daaaaaaaaaa" for Matt, and so I sent Matt this sad picture of him crying for dad. :)

So a sad story about the stitches. The nurse figured (rightfully so) that Jacob wasn't just going to lay there and let the doctor stitch him up. So she brought in some blankets and wrapped him up like a burrito so he couldn't move. He was TICKED! I had to sit and help hold his arms down and the nurse held his head down. Then the Dr put the little stitch paper over his gash, and it has a little hole for him to stitch in. Well, Jacob's ONE EYE was still looking out the hole, and the Dr thought it would be better so Jacob could at least see me with one eye. It was the most awful thing ever! His ONE eye, staring at me, through the hole, just crying while we held him down, staring at me the whole time.... it's what nightmares of made of. It was so sad.

But, we made it out alive and well, and he has done great! We worried he'd scratch and pull at it, but he never touched it.

This is after a few days healing.

When I took him back to get the stitches out, he didn't even cry! He was so brave, and it was quick and painless. He'll have a scar, but it shouldn't be bad at all. Plus, he matches scars with half the boys in his family. Matt, Joseph, and Kenny all have scars on one of their eyebrows! :)

This doesn't show his scar, it's just a darn cute picture I had to post.

HOPEFULLY, we will not be going back there again, at least for a while.
