Freezing!

So we had a bit of a cold freeze last week. Something about an arctic plunge or vortex and all I heard on the news was that it was warmer in Alaska than it was in parts of Texas. But fun facts aside, it was downright cold here last week.  It makes it super fun when kids have to be to school early in the morning and I don't feel like putting on real shoes so my toes freeze in flip-flops.

Also this week, my parents were in California, enjoying the beach and warm weather, so I took an extra amount of pictures that came in handy for whiny texts to them about how cold it was. :)
At first it wasn't so bad, just a little snow here and there. The kids were fascinated by the first snow! Reagan spent an hour out there the first day, just playing by herself.

We were a tad unprepared, so we had to hurry and make a trip to walmart for gloves, hats, and boots. This picture was showing grandma how cold it was.

This isn't about the cold, but that night we did have Kenny and Corbyn come over to keep the kids warm, and that they did. We watch some Jimmy Fallon clips, and the kids invaded all sorts of personal space. Good thing Kenny is so tall that there is lots of him to go around! :) They love love love K and C.  And we're lucky they'll come hang out with us.

This was my view on the way home from the gym one morning. Yikes. My van could hardly make it up the street, and I was cursing myself for selling my 4 wheel drive SUV.  Luckily, snow tires were the answer and the van does much better in the snow!

Even though it hardly got about 10* for a few days, the kids made sure to get some fresh air and brave the cold for a few minutes. Then we'd warm up with hot chocolate, and it was fun.

This kid, if he's inside he plays with trains, but if he's outside? You'll most definitely find him glue to his bike.

The slide was iced over, which made it even more fun to play on! I took this picture from inside the house. They're crazy.

But this, this takes the crazy cake. Matt thought it'd be fun to hot tub. Now, I know it's fun to hot tub in the snow, but the air outside was like 2 degrees or something. It was soooo cold.  And the water was 103. Talk about extremes! They didn't stay in very long, but they did have a lot of fun.

Eventually, Tyler was out running around in the snow, then getting back in the hot tub. What crazy kids. They had a blast.

Today, it was back up to 55! Yay for colorado weather. :) I don't mind the snow, but hopefully next time it'll come with out the negative temperatures!

Well, it sounds like the kids are really enjoying the snow - sorry you aren't. ;) My kids would be right out there with them. Haha!

Glad the snow tires are helping. =)
