Six Years Ago...

Six years ago today, I was a week overdue with my first baby. I was huge and miserable and ready to get her out. I was induced at the hospital, but spent a whopping 24 (yes 24!) hours in labor. This would be my first lesson about Jordyn, that she does things on her own time. But she came out perfect, beautiful, and healthy. And I remember thinking that I would do it over one hundred times if it meant I got to be her mom.

And now here she is at 6. I can hardly believe it, and I am so in love with the girl she is becoming. Here are Six Things About Jordyn:

She's Funny! She looooves to tell jokes. Knock-knock ones are her favorite. Turns out, once she hit Kindergarten she kind of became the class clown. Not in a crazy way, but she loves to make people laugh. And she loves to be silly.

She is Passionate. Once Jordyn sets her mind to something, she does it. And when she loves something, she loves it hard. You cannot easily change her mind about anything, and she latches on to ideas, things, and other stuff she gets passionate about.

She's Emotional. She does not get this from my side of the family, I can tell you that. This is where the Detro kicks in big time for her :). This goes along with her passionate side. She loves deeply, even at 6. She cries when she doesn't see Matt for too long, because oh man, does she love her dad. She looked at an old funeral program for my grandpa, and got teary all over again. :) Jordyn's emotions are high high's and low low's, but it has made her who she is.

She is Smart. And not just book smart, but with logic, reason, and common sense, too. I can't out smart her or try to fluff anything. She gets it. But also, she is just smart. Reading and writing are her pastimes. And she is so good at adding and subtracting. Definitely a numbers girl, she can do it all in her head. Jordyn loves school, which makes me happy.

Loves Outdoors. From when she was little, she loved being outside. It always made her the happiest. It does not matter if it's freezing cold and blizzardy, or burning hot outside, she wants to be outside. She loves bugs and nature, getting dirty and having fun.

She's a Foodie. Ha, I love this about her. She gets thing from her dad, too. She loves to cook and help out in the kitchen. She will eat anything at least once, and almost always she likes it! Jordyn loves to mix things together to see what tastes good, or not so good. She loves to dip her foods in random things. Sometimes Matt and I cringe at what she is mixing together or dipping, but most of the time it turns out delicious, and it's something we would never have thought of. I think it's awesome.

That's her in a nutshell. She's a beauty, a great helper, and fun kid, and we just can't imagine life without her. Happy Birthday, Jordyn!
