Tyler turns 6!

This past weekend Tyler had a birthday! My little (big) man turned 6. Holy moly. I know every mom says it, but seriously, where has the time gone? He's growing up to be such a funny, smart kid. Our life would be terribly boring without Tyler, that's for sure.

We started the day off with presents.

He got a lot of books, cause this kids loves {LOVES} to read. And he's good at it, too.

We also bought him a new remote control car. It has provided endless hours of entertainment for all the kids. He also got some new clothes, a new blanket, race cars, and a light saber.

For birthday fun, he requested that we go bowling, so we did. He really wanted a birthday party, and I was planning on planning one (ha!) but I really haven't been able to get myself together yet (another post for another day), and so the party didn't happen. Luckily bowling is always so much fun, I think he was ok with it all in the end. This picture is when he *almost* got a strike, and was saying "ohhhh!". :)

The 3 older ones. I can't just say 3 kids, cause I actually have 4 now. Weird....

This little miss had a blast, and even finished the game with 2 strikes in a row!

Tyler picked out this cake as the one he wanted, so we went with it. I'm thinking it was all the extra candles, thus extra fire on top of the cake.

He was excited to be sung to.

Blowing out candles! All that fire took a lot of lung power!

My cute guy.

He seems so different than this little guy I had 6 years ago. (Why yes, he does look a lot like Jacob!)

Some fun facts about Tyler at 6-
-He loves to read. LOVES it. He is also the highest level reader in all of Kindergarten at his school. Yes, I'm bragging, but I'm proud of my little guy. (And all of the teachers and technicians just love him!!)
-He is obsessed with all things science related. He reads books on the earth, earthquakes, volcanoes, the tectonic plates, etc. He cannot get enough of it. I hope this obsession continues.
-He wakes up by 5:30-6 am every. single. morning. But he crashes as soon as he hits the pillow around 7 pm. He's our early to bed, early to rise kid.
-He had a very special and unique relationship with all 3 of his siblings. Each different, but each just as special. He loves all of them.
-He is a cuddler. Major, major cuddler. He loves to snuggle and sit on our laps still. He's been like this since he was a baby.
-Tyler loves cars, race tracks, etc. Like most boys do. :)
- I'm pretty sure that he'll be a long distance runner some day. The kid is fast! He has a runner's body for sure, and is built for that stuff. We'll see what happens though....

So, Tyler, Happy Birthday! The last 6 years have been a wonderful journey for your dad and I. Watching your personality and little brain develop has been fun and amazing to watch. We are so proud of you, and look forward to what your life brings you.  We know you're meant for big and great things, and we love you so much. Happy Birthday bud!

I LOVED that 2nd to last picture of him. What a great shot!!

Sounds like he had a wonderful day. Loved the Ninjago book. My kids will be jealous. =)

You can never have too much fire on your cake ... that's my opinion anyway. =)

I loved reading the things you wrote about Tyler at the end. I feel like I learned more about him that I didn't know (maybe a little embarrassing on my part - I probably should have known them). What an awesome kid he is!!
