AstroFest!

Last Saturday, we trekked out to the BYU Astrofest! It. was. awesome! Tyler is big into space and the planets right now, and a friend told me about this, and I knew it was right up his alley! Jordyn and Reagan thought it was pretty awesome too. Plus, it was free! Free, and educational, you really can't beat that. Thanks BYU! :)

There were SO many activities, and unfortunately I don't have pictures of them all, but I did still get a lot of pictures. First, we went to a star show in the planetarium  and that was cool. Reagan was scared of the complete darkness, so I took her and Jacob out, but the others stayed and loved it!

Then, we ventured over to the star wheel center. The kids each made their own star wheel, so now we can look at the sky and see the constellations.

Look at that tongue sticking out, that's concentration!

Mr. Chill.

Next, we made our own rockets.

Then, we studied some meteorites up close through a microscope.

After we were done wandering around inside, we headed outside to launch our rockets.

Getting ready to watch them blast off!

They shot pretty far, it was so cool! Here's Reagan running back with her rocket. She's so cute. :)

We launched them a second time and the boys tried to catch theirs.

Then we got to check out the sun through these special glasses things. Matt does a good job modeling it for us.

The kids learned how solar power works.

Lastly came the super fun stuff. They called this the Mars Simulation station. Bounce houses and rock walls to simulate the Mars atmosphere. It's a stretch, but hey the kids loved it, so whatever!

Tyler got some sweet air on the bounce house.

Jordyn was so nice to help our Reagan.

The Rock Wall. Tyler was a pro. Jordyn did really good too! She just didn't want to go all the way up. Once Tyler got moving, we couldn't get him down again. He loved it! We might have to keep this going...

Reagan finally decided to suit up, but then changed her mind about climbing.

Overall, it was so, so fun! We will definitely be checking this out again when it comes again next year!

Oh my gosh, that looked AWESOME!! I'm so, so, so sad that we couldn't join you. Seriously, my kids would have loved that (hey, I would have loved that). Looks like you guys had a great time and from the pictures it didn't look like the crowd was bad, either. SO fun!!!
