Tyler turns 8

My Tyler. Where do I start? There is so much to say about him. :) He had his birthday on Monday, and now he's 8! Which blows my mind, first of all.  The Saturday before his birthday, we had a party for him at the bowling alley. It was great, they did the cake and ice cream, the soda, handled clean up,  and I loved it. He invited 8 kids, only 1 girl. And it was pure chaos. But he loved it and it was so fun to watch him have so much fun with his friends. 

They didn't sit down for the first game. So much excitement in all those 7-8 year olds! 

This was when they sang to him. Tyler has been very blessed with a great group of friends. He is at a fantastic school, and there are a number of good, good kids that he hangs out with. I feel very lucky that he's had such a good transition. And yes, 1 girl, but don't feel bad for her. She can handle herself juuuuust fine. ;)

On Monday, he opened our presents, a minecraft lego set

and a new bike! Too bad it's been snowing since Saturday, he'll have to wait to try it out. 

On Monday night, we had all the family over for cake and ice cream. He requested a Minecraft cake cake. It's not a cake of Minecraft, its the cake that's IN Minecraft. You'd have to play it to see it. Or have a kid that plays it to know about it, I guess. I got a lot of texts asking me what it was.  :) According to Tyler it was spot on! So that's all that matters.

I accidentally bought sparkler candles, and it was hilarious. We decided to just use them anyway, and he had to keep blowing them out. We got a good laugh about it. 

And, this is out of order, but Monday at lunch, the little 2 and Matt and I took lunch to Tyler's school and ate with him. That was a blast. It's always fun to see them in their element.

Some things about Tyler at 8 years old:

-He is an early to bed, early to rise kid. Crashes as soon as his head hits the pillow at 8 pm, and he's up by 6 am. Every. single. day. 

-Obsessed with Minecraft. And I mean OBSESSED.

-His best friend is Ami, the one girl from his party. 

-He loves to play tetherball, when the weather is good. He could stay outside hitting the tetherball by himself for an hour. Best purchase ever!

-Weighs 68 lbs (85th %), and is 52" tall (75th %)

-Is an amazing helper. He'll always ask if I need help with anything, and he'll do it. 

-Currently enrolled in 2 Gifted and Talented classes, math and writing.

-Tyler is so, so smart. Math, spelling, etc, come so easy to him. He is testing a few grade levels above where he should be.

-He is a social butterfly. He really does get along with anyone and everyone. And he is a good friend, and is good at standing up for what's right.

-Favorite movies are Monsters Inc and University, and favorite show is Paw Patrol. 

-Loves to snuggle.

-Has a LOT of energy. This kid never slows down. And I love it. 

This Saturday he is being baptized, and I'm so excited for him! He's turning in to such a fun young man. And I can't believe how fast he's growing up. Happy Birthday Tyguy!
