Last month we celebrated TYLER turning 9! The fact that he gets older and older seems to sneak up on me, since he is so close in age to Jordyn. I can't believe he's 9. He didn't have a party this year since it was his off year, and he had school on his birthday. His teacher is so awesome, so on birthdays, the birthday kid gets to eat pick 2 friends and eat with the teacher with special treats and have a fun time. He was really excited for that. When I asked him which two friends he was going to pick, he couldn't decide. Is there such a thing as too many friends? Tyler might have too many friends. :) He is seriously such a fun friend to have, and I always see him with packs of kids around him. I can take him literally anywhere, and he will instantly have a friend, or have girls following him, and it's hilarious.
So even the morning of his brithday I asked him if he had decided which friends to pick, and he still didn't know. I guess he made a last minute decision right before lunch that day, and picked his friends JT and Gavin. He said it was a lot of fun. His teacher doesn't let them bring treats; instead we brought a birthday book and Tyler gets to sign it, and it stays with her class forever. I think that's a cute idea.
Tyler at age 3!
He has always been a sweet, tender boy. Him and Jacob have a very special relationship. I was worried about them being close, with a 6 year age gap between them, but they just love each other.
On the morning of his birthday before school, Tyler opened presents from us. We gave him Stampy's Lovely Book (it's based off the youtube Minecraft guy Stampy), a new and real football, some new shirts and shorts.
Funny story- Tyler has been really into football lately. It's all he plays at recess, and he's asked for me to sign him up in the flag football league. He was obsessed with watching football and the Super Bowl on TV, and knows a lot of the teams. I had bought him a cute football that was more bouncy than a regular football, and it was multi-colored, ha! One day I asked him how his football was working out, and he gave me a very awkward "uhhhh....." and got shifty on me. Then he confessed that it's kind of embarassing to have a rainbow colored football, so he doens't bring it out to play at recess anymore. Ha!!! I was laughing so hard. Once he said it, it made total sense, and I was laughing at myself for not thinking of that when I bought it. He was a real sweetheart about it, and I could tell he didn't want to hurt my feelings. So, for his birthday, I bought him a REAL football, and it is getting a lot of use. He was one happy boy.
He requested a football cake, and I came up with this. It was really easy!
We had the family over and he got more presents, books, clothes, and Minecraft legos!!
Cake with his twin/non-twin Reagan.
Some fun things about Tyler at 9:
1. He is in the Gifted and Talented matt class at school, and is the only 3rd grader with a bunch of 4th and 5th graders.
2. He started a robotics club after school, and soon he'll get to do competitions and stuff. He loves it!
3. He loves loves baseball and football, and sometimes he can't decide which he wants to do more.
4. He is slightly obsessed with electronics, and the computer in particular. He loves to play minecraft on the xbox, but he loves to play a game called Roblox on the computer.
5. Tyler is a daredevil. He loves trying new tricks, like popowheelies, and stuff that makes me cover my eyes. :)
6. His favorite food is Cafe Rio, and he downs a whole burrito by himself.
7. He REFUSES to wear jeans. He hates them. He hates jackets too. He'll only wear the athletic type pants and short, cause duh, they're easier to play sports in. ;)
8. He is getting really good at the piano, and is just cruising in his lessons.
9. He is always a willing helper, a happy kid, a fun friend, a loyal brother, and I just love that kid so much.

I remember holding him while he slept in Nursery - how is that even possible?
