I cannot believe my littlest guy is 2! Time is soaring by, especially when it comes to Jacob. In some ways I feel like he's been 2 forever, but it's finally official.
I love getting a picture right when they wake up on their birthday. It was a valiant effort, but Jacob was too busy jumping up and down singing Happy Birthday to himself, that this was the best I got. :)
First thing, we let him open our presents from us. He got more little diets trains to fill out his set. We gave him James, Edward, and Henry. He already had Gordon, Thomas, Percy, Spencer, Toby and Victor. Yes, I have them all memorized, as does Jacob.
Jacob is a pro at the opening presents thing. Around lunch time, he opened Grandma and Grandpa's presents. They found quite the Thomas collection for Jacob, and it was a hit! A Thomas hat and glove set, a Thomas blanket, big Thomas stuffed train, and a Thomas piggy bank.
And of course, he had to put it all on immediately.
Then that night, we had cake and ice cream with the family. My grandma was in town for Christmas, so I snapped a picture of Jacob and his great-grandma. It was so fun to have her!
I couldn't decide what kind of cake to make, and since he's 2 he just asked for a train. I couldn't find a good cake pan, and when the time came, I didn't have time to free hand cut one, or decorate it, so I ended up free handing the number 2, and making it a train track. I think it turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself. :) We put his candles and one of his new trains on the cake to make it look like a real track. He loved it too!
Jacob sang during the song to himself, and blew out the candles. It was so fun! He is a big fan of birthdays, so it was sweet to see him love it so much for himself.
Jacob is such a joy. He literally makes people happy wherever he goes. When we walk into a store, he says hi to everyone he sees. Then he waves and yells "Bye!!" with a smile to everyone we see as we walk out of any place. He likes to show his trains (that he's always carrying) to strangers, and they always smile and laugh with him.
Jacob loves to sing. He knows and sings Happy Birthday, ABC's, popcorn, tiny turtle song, Ring around the roses, Shake it Off, and many more. I LOVE when he sings. It's the cutest thing ever.
Jacob is a smarty pants, too. And he is an amazing talker! He can count up to 14, knows all his ABC's and knows most of the sounds that each letter makes. He knows the names of all the colors, and can mostly name the color correctly, although we're still working on a few. :) And it's not even sometime I've been trying to teach him, he just picks stuff up. He loves to read books, and take baths.
He loves to be snuggled before bed, and he still takes a bottle... eek! He loves to suck his thumb, and even has a little callous on his thumb where he sucks it. He usually only sucks his thumb though if he has his special blanket. If we lose it, it is a bad day for sure.
Jacob still loves his Thomas, but he loves trains in general. If we are outside and he hears a train horn, he will stop and gasp- "I hear a train!" And will say it over and over. He loves to gasp at anything he finds exciting, which is a lot. Jacob is happy almost all the time, unless he's starving. He loves to eat macaroni and cheese, and asks for it all the time. He loves pretzels, and apple juice, goldfish, milk, and apple sauce.
Ok, just a few things to remember about Jacob at 2. He is a talkative, happy, fun boy, and we all just love him. I am LOVING this age. He has always been so much fun, but he is just a joy. There are hardly any moments where he is upset, or crying. He sleeps well, he eats well, and I just can't get enough of him.
Love you Jacob, happy second birthday!

This makes me miss my kids train stage. Jared especially loved Thomas. Now Jared is 12. =( Sigh.
Jacob is such a cutie. That last picture of him makes him look SO grown up. I love the picture of Jacob with his head on Tyler shoulder.
And I apologize. I believe I have Karen's train pan. Eek! But your cake turned out darling and was perfect!
He's so cute!! How is he getting so big already? I loved reading this! (ari)
