Easter Egg Hunts 2015

We had such a fun first Easter in Colorado this year. It was so different (not good, not bad, just different) in so many ways, and so it was a fun and new experience for us and the kids. All of the easter egg hunts we went to were hosted by different Christian denomination churches, and had a lot of fun stuff to do.

Reagan had her face painted like a butterfly. The girls painting the faces were super cute, and great with the kids, so it was fun.

They divided up the field into the different age groups. Each of the kids had their own age group, and actually poor Jordyn was too old, and didn't fit in any age group.  I don't have pictures from all the kids but these are from Reagan's age group.

It was SO nice! Everyone was so pleasant! We're used to a pretty cut throat egg hunt, with elbows thrown and kids stealing eggs from other kids, but no! This one was so nice. Everyone was so nice and shared the eggs, no elbow throwing, and everyone made sure all the kids had some. Matt and I could NOT believe it! It was so refreshing and nice to watch. :)

Since everyone was being so pleasant and agreeable, we let Jordyn sneak out in the field with Tyler's age group and grab a few eggs, and everyone was ok with it.

They also had bounce houses and fun games. Reagan went down the slide.

And since it was sponsored by a Christian church, there was a cute puppet show about following Jesus and the reason for Easter. Now, it wasn't quite what we believe, but it was pretty similar, and I loved the exposure that it was for the kids to see something different, with good people doing good things, who really did believe in Jesus Christ. They just didn't have the whole truth, and that's why we do missionary work.  But that we can be friends and be tolerant of people of all different faiths and beliefs.

They did a raffle drawing at the very end, and reagan ended up winning! She won the "low" prize, and it was just a thing of bubbles, but still pretty cool!

It was a great Easter to remember the resurrection, especially with general conference the same day. Reagan especially is very interested in the idea of the resurrection, and the fact that people will live again. Especially being by my brothers grave site, she asks a lot when he's coming back, like Jesus. I love their straight forward, honest approach to their thoughts. She asks when everyone will come alive again, and how, and why, and is it really everyone? It's made for some great conversations with all the kids.  And it's been fun for me to teach and have these moments with my kids. And isn't that what easter is all about? Happy Easter!

That is great that they are getting that exposure and that it is allowing you to have those conversations. Best teaching moments! That's weird to me that they didn't have an age group for Jordyn. And our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt is cutthroat so we have stopped going to it. Not worth it. So that is awesome you had such a good experience.
